What was this project about?
As explained on the main menu of my portfolio, the truth, lies, and in-between project was about trying to convince an audience that a certain myth or legend was 100% true. However, some of the myths were not true at all and some of them were half-truths in the way that some of the facts of the story were incorrect. The myth that my group received was about how people were buried alive throughout history because they were thought to be dead. Then, hours after their death, the presumed dead person would wake in their coffin, 6 feet underground screaming for help and trying to get out.
I CREATED AN ORIGINAL PROJECT
I created an original project. In my project, I thought creatively with my group by using different techniques such as the way we cut the cardboard in order to make our voting box for our myth. We developed original ideas by looking at our research and designing our box in a way that would be appropriate to the subject. The box's shape was that of a worn down coffin with a cross cut into the top as the hole where the listeners would place their votes.
I used my own unique ideas in my artwork by being the one that measured the cardboard as well as cut it in order to make sure that the box looked professional and precise. The source of inspiration for my work was the research that my group conducted in order to find out more about our myth. I learned a lot about how people were buried alive without any way to escape. The ideas of my project happened intentionally as most of the work we did was efficient and professional. Most of the time we were like a machine that was focused and determined to finish our work and create something that we would be proud of.
My most original aspect of my project was the part that was created during the revisions with my video. I was unhappy with the video we produced so I decided to go back and work on it so that it was something that my group members and I were proud of as well as something that would give us a better grade. I did this bit on my own as I was unable to meet up with my group members and record with them, but I still believe that because I did this it gave our project a much needed boost in originality.
I TOOK RISKS
Throughout my project, I took quite a few risks. I tried new things such as constructing the voting box out of cardboard. The voting box was created in order for students to cast their votes on whether or not our myths were true. I experimented with different aspects of the project to see what the best outcome was. I tried things that I was not sure about in my project such as when we had 2 partners working with cardboard and 1 working on writing and researching the myth.
I normally don't do divide and conquer because it can get confusing. However, giving divide and conquer a shot I realized that its pros outweighed its cons, so we stuck with it throughout the project. I also took a risk when my group decided to not make a very long video. We decided to just give our listeners the facts in order to try to convince them that our project WAS a truth. However, I later decided to add a bit of a skit at the end of the project to make it more interesting to watch.
There was one big risk that I took when working on this project with my partners. That was the use of the exacto knife during the cutting of the cardboard. The problem with the exacto knife was that it was extremely sharp. This means that it would not only leave marks in the table if the cardboard that was being cut was not put over a protective layer, but it also meant that I could possibly hurt my group partners or even myself. This is why the exacto knife was such a big risk, however, no such problems occurred throughout the project so I am glad that the risk I took paid off.

I OBSERVED
Throughout my project, I observed many things about my surroundings and what I was researching. I observed my friends in my group and how they worked which gave me inspiration. I observed other groups and how they worked which made me think about how their project was going to turn out and whether or not their myth was true.
Observing my surroundings and research influenced my group and I to work by showing us that there were many tiny details to add that were important for the structure of the whole project. Close observation of everything going on while the project was being researched, constructed, and created was important to how the project was going to end up.
Finally, the thing I observed the most heavily was how my partners began to feel like more of a group as time went by. On the first day of the project, it was hard to organize everything because we were not used to each other's company. However, about 2 days after, we were like an efficient machine that had 1 goal: to work on our project and to make it believable. I really enjoyed working with my partners and observing details about this project as it was an important one to me and my partners.
REFLECTION
During this project, I had a lot of fun. It was my first major project in Concourse 9 so it was kind of the one that showed me what the program was gonna be like and how it functioned. This project made a great first impression of who I was working with and how I was going to be working in the Concourse 9 program.
The way we presented our project was by giving the viewers just the clear facts. This was somewhat of a mistake as we did get points off for it, but I later decided to work on this aspect of the project during the revisions which allowed us to receive a better grade on our work. The materials we used in the project were cardboard, exacto knives, rulers, paper, and markers. These were all the things we used to create our voting box for the project. We measured and cut the cardboard in order to form the voting box in a precise and professional way. The voting box was shaped as a coffin to represent our myth of being buried alive.
If I had to give our project a number on a scale of 1-10, I would give it a 8.5/10. Our work was good and my group collaborated and executed our project well, but there was a lot we could expand on such as the colorful aspect of the voting box and the video. Overall, my first project in Concourse 9 was very interesting and I learned many new things from researching and working on my myth.
